My 11th Anniversary

Well I should have posted this yesterday, but didn't get a chance. January 11th will always be a day that stands out in my life. This year I am going to see it in a more thankful way, though. It has been 11 years since I was diagnosed with Type 1 insulin dependent diabetes on January 11, 1998. That time in my life was such a gloomy period because most people think their life is ending when they get news like that. I remember being in the ICU for a week and no one ever walked through my cube with positive news. You can't do this, you can't do that....

But now, 11 years later, I am healthy, happily married, have one beautiful little girl, a handsome little boy, a supportive family, wonderful friends, an enegertic dog, and anything a girl could ask for, and for my old friend Kellie Vance I even got to eat my own wedding cake! Only those who were close to me in high school will remember and understand the wedding cake comment.

Thank you Lord for all that you have blessed me with in my life and the 11 wonderful years I have enjoyed since my diagnosis and the many more ahead.

Thanks to everyone for all the love and support that you have shown me. My goal for 2009 is to create a walking team and participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk in November to help raise money for a cure for children and others who have Type 1 insulin dependent diabetes.
