Day 10...a childhood memory...

Well there are so many things that I could photograph for this one, but I settled on two things that really stand out from my adolescent years. One, cheering and football games! Oh, my how those were some fun times! Friday night football games, pep rallies, competitions,....you name it, we did it!

The crown is from winning Homecoming Queen! I have to say, that was pretty awesome being a teenage girl!

The thing that really reminds of my childhood is dance. I have taken dance classes since I was 2 years old. I took for 15 years and then taught for 8 years until little Darby came along! Now I get to be the mommy of a dancer and that is a whole new kind of fun! Kimberly (my little sis) and I would dance everywhere...I think we drove my mom crazy bouncing all over the store! Dance is still a big part of my life...now I'm the mom peeking in the window to catch a glimpse at my little girl dancing!

Happy photographing to all! I'm having fun with this challenge. Practicing my shots and editing! Until tomorrow...not sure what the challenge is, so I better be checking on that!

Day 9...someone you love!

I love so many! My heart, soul, and everything belong to these two!

My goal today was to shoot a picture of Matt with the kids but his work schedule did not allow that to happen. I love my family more than anything in this world. I have truly been blessed!

I've been playing around with some editing tricks on these last few photos...just trying to better myself! Tomorrow is day 10, take a picture of a childhood memory...stay tuned for that!

Day 8...a bad habit...

I'm sure I have plenty of bad habits like shopping, pinterest, shopping, shopping for crafts....oh, you get the point! However, it's not fun to display my own bad habits, so here's my hubby's bad habit. I hate it and I wish he would quit (period)! I'm throwing these cans away every minute and if I get my hand on the spit bottle, it's in the trash, too!

We love you honey and want you to be healthy and with us forever!

Day 7...a day late, sorry! Take a picture of fruit!

So here are my fruit shots. Again, I was rushed. We had a field trip with Darby's school which completely wore me out!!!! And I'm a day late posting this day. Photography class field trip today, so should be interesting and fun! Will post my learnings later!

Day 6...shoot from a low angle...

Today I was to shoot a picture from a low angle. This is as good as it gets today! It was a full and busy day so I didn't really have enough time to get a really good one. I shot this picture of Bodie while lying down on our sidewalk waiting on the bus to run this morning. Multitasking!!!!!! He kept crying..."I don't want picture mommy!" I won this battle!

Tomorrow is a big day...Darby is going on her first official field trip and we are going to the zoo! I'm so excited to be going along for this!

Day 5 - take a picture from a high angle.

Today was day 5 of the challenge and the instruction was "take a picture from a high angle." I carried my camera to work with me today knowing that I could park on the top of our parking deck to hopefully get an insteresting shot. This is what I got! I took one before going in to work with the sun was up high and the other when I was leaving with the sun was just starting to set.

This challenge is really fun! It makes you think about what you are photographing. Tomorrow I will be shooting from a low angle.

The kids pumpkins

The kids had to have these little pumpkin kits from Target the other day. Yoda for Darby and Buzz for Bodie. I picked up some small pumpkins tonight while grocery shopping so we could get a head start on our pumpkin decorating!!!!
Darby making her Yoda pumpkin.
Bodie putting together Buzz.
Aren't they so cute!
The best kind of carving you can do! Stick some arms & legs in the pumpkin! I love that there was nothing for me to clean up.

Day 3...something green...

Today's instructions were to take a picture of something green. So here goes....
Hmmmm....I rushed home to take a picture of something green today!

The lawn mower is green! (Or maybe I should call it the "moron" as my kids do....I think that's their version of mower.)

Stay tuned for tomorrow's challenge....take a picture from a high angle. I'm really excited about that one!

"May the force be with you"....he's green!

Day 3....Clouds....

Today was day 3 of the photography challenge and the instructions were to take a picture of the clouds. Guess what????? There was not a single cloud in the sky all day long. I took a picture early this morning...clear sky...took another this afternoon...still clear sky! So I took another at dusk tonight when you could start to see the moon...still NO clouds! Really? That totally messed up my day! I carried my camera with me all day long to catch one. Will try this one again another day!

Still at the end of the day there was NOT ONE CLOUD!!!!!! Of all days, the one day I'm wanting some clouds in the sky!

Day 2...take a picture of what you wore today

Day 2 instructions were to take a picture of what you wore today. It was definitely a lazy day for us today and my outfit shows it. I wore a long-sleeved Alabama t-shirt, some gray cotton yoga capri pants, and my red polka dot Yellow Box flip flops. Pretty great outfit...carefree....comfy!

Scrap wood turned sign....

While Matt sleeps all day after working night shift, I feel like the kids and I are tip toeing around all weekend to find something to do. When I was taking down the garbage this morning, I decided to make my Halloween sign. Here it is! I saw this idea on Pinterest also (Thanks to whoever created that website...it's the bomb)! On Pinterest they painted this saying on the kick plate of 3 stairs of a front porch. Since I don't have but one step I tweeked it.

I love that it didn't cost one dime to make! I used left over grey and green paint from rooms that I repainted. The board was from on old pallet that is WAY TO BIG to even use.

My 30 day Photography Challenge

So I've really been wanting to perfect my photography skills so I can capture great pictures. I do NOT want to do this as a job, but a hobby. I really want to get those awesome pictures of my kids! I was on Pinterest (my newest obssession) and came across this 'pin' with 30 days of photographs to take to help you capture different angles and shots when taking pictures, so I figured why not?!....I'm a day behind on this post because I started yesterday on the 1st to keep my days and challenges on the same number so I wouldn't forget! So here it is....day 1....
Here's what the pin looked like on Pinterest.
So here's my Day 1 Self Portrait. I kind of hope I can lose some weight during these 30 days since I end with another self portrait! I know this is not a perfect shot, but that's the reason for doing...improve your skills and learn some new techniques.

Fall is in the air & house...

So we moved in March of this year to the house we had been eyeing for years. We tried to sell our house about 4 years ago and had put a contract on it but we were beat out (pouting...). But here we are 4 1/2 years later and our dream came true. We've been here 6 months and are enjoying it so much. This is the first picture I've taken of the outside. I can't wait to decorate for Christmas this year!!!!! Darby and I have only stuck a couple pumpkin and owl Halloween signs in the yard, more to come. It's still a little hot for pumpkins on the porch here in Alabama!

The fireplace.

Mmmmmmm...taste like a Payday!
A pinterest project on display! I love their feet prints turned into ghosts! The pumpkin was also my mom's.
Darby being silly and using some of the decor as accessories! This was my mom's and I always loved it as a child...so yes it comes out each year!
I hung my pumpkin paper lantern from the light fixture...I figured 'why not?'...my kids love it!
So I haven't found a table that I like to use in the hall, therefore my Halloween display is on the dining room table just to left left of the foyer.

Bodie's Thomas the Train 3rd Birthday

Our sweet little boy turned three this year, so we celebrated with an all out Thomas and Friends celebration with close friends and family. Here are just a few pic's of our event.
Bodie's homemade Thomas cake. I had this idea and put it to work....6 hours into I was rethinking my idea!
Since Bodie LOVES anything green, I marbled the cake white and green so he would be sure to eat it!
Homemade Choo Choo sugar cookies decorated in RR signs.
All our brunch-like snacks since the party started at 10:00.
I ran across these cute little Thomas & Friends' drinks that I had to have for the kiddos! I searched high and low to collect enough and even had my sister get some from NC!
As always, there are too many toys when it's over! Thanks to all our wonderful friends and family!
Bodie blowing out his "3" candles!
A family shot...this are so hard to get for some reason!

Trip to Daphne!!!!

The Gulf Shores sunset just before dinner.

We took a weekend trip to Daphne, AL this weekend to visit some friends (Scotty and Megan Boshell) who have moved there in the past year. Took us a while to both have time off to make the road trip, but we had a blast! The kids had so much fun playing, the guys hung out, Megan and I did some home interiors shopping, and we had a fun night at the beach for dinner. I can't wait to go back. I got some great home decor for the new house and have decided to take a note from my friend Megan and post some pictures. Maybe since I'm off this week to spend some much needed time with my family and hubby, I can catch this blog up-to-date. Here's a start!

Bodie and Hallie climbing the sand hill!
Darby and Brinley Kate posing at the Hangout!
